Trading Is A Function Of You
Trading is a business, it is a tool
to get you your goals and desires, it is a journey, a self
satisfying endeavour, and it is a function of you. These are just
some of the things that traders should be learning but are not.
Some will already know this, or have mastered it without ever
realizing how they did it.
So what do I mean when I say trading
is a function of you? Quite simply it means your edge, your holy
grail; your success in trading will come from within. Every
successful trader is different and just like fingerprints, there
are no two alike!
Successful traders enjoy what they
do. I’ll give you an example of not enjoying your trading, even
when making money. For me, when I tried day trading, I thought I
liked it at first, especially when I was making money, but after a
while it became extremely boring for me. It was like a job, and I
had never lasted in a job for more than a year or two for a very
simple reason. When the challenges run out, I get bored and do not
put my heart into it. I have always been a hard worker, so it never
had anything to do with productivity, but I learn quick and when
there seems to be nothing left to learn, I want to move
on.
This was a very valuable lesson for
me. It taught me that to stay as a trader who enjoys what he does;
I needed to find something that involved more than just day trading
forex. So I became interested in market psychology. Now my trading
is centered on that.
You see it is important you find out
who you are. If you aren’t enjoying your trading it doesn’t mean
the markets are not for you, it may mean re-assessing what it is
you want from your trading and assessing who you are! Some people
are very happy to trade one way for a long time, just as some
people are happy to work in jobs that involve repetitive
patterns.
Know who you are and your trading
style will find you. This is what we base Pentagonal Trading on,
but we will admit, it’s not a simple 1-2-3 question process. You
will have to dig deep within yourself and do some work. But once
done, you’ll have an unshakeable foundation from which to base the
rest of your life on.
